Lost Laurel

About a year after starting my Lost Laurel blog and Facebook page, I decided to write and design a book. Organized by decade, starting with the turn of the 20th century, it’s a collection of photos that document the stores, restaurants, and other businesses of Laurel’s past.

I used Kickstarter to crowdfund the printing and shipping costs, which allowed me to expand the book to 192 pages and print a limited supply of hardcover editions as well as the paperbacks I planned for.

The book was chosen as the Kickstarter Project of the Day, and was later honored with the 2015 St. George’s Day Award by the Prince George’s County Historical Society.

I’m also happy to say that it was added to the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System’s circulation, and has a permanent spot in the prestigious Maryland Room at the Hyattsville Branch.
